Research Help DeskNew to university? A little unsure about where to begin your academic research, or what good research entails? We can help.

The library has a subject guide for nearly every subject taught at Mount Allison. These online guides will tell you which databases are the best for your subject, where to find key reference books and online sources, and how to conduct good searches. They also list the name and contact information of your subject librarian, who would be happy to meet with you anytime. Subject guides

You can also drop in, e-mail, or use our virtual chat service to talk to a librarian at the Research Help Desk, located in the middle of the library's main floor. Librarians at the Research Help Desk are available every day except Saturday. The desk is also open evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.  Librarians are available outside of help-desk hours as well.

Librarians can help you:

  • find the best books and journal articles for your research topic
  • learn search strategies to sleuth out these sources on your own
  • learn about citation
  • save hours in research time by zeroing in on the best resources

And more! Please stop by the Research Help Desk, or contact your subject librarian.
