Brenda Snowdon, Access Services AssistantMeet Brenda Snowdon, Access Services Assistant at the R.P. Bell Library since 1996.

1. Favourite book: The Bible! Second favourite: Chronicles of the Kings by Lynn Austin. I thought it had a compelling plot that made me want to read all five books in the series twice (and that rarely happens). It is fiction but based on Bible history. The author does a great job of meshing the fiction and fact into a gripping narrative that brings life to the old story of good vs. evil. It is a bit of an emotional roller coaster that will keep you turning those pages!

2. People are always surprised when they learn… that I have 15 grandchildren!

3. Guilty pleasure: Dark Chocolate – I’m a confirmed chocoholic.

4. Passion in life: Gardening; I just like seeing things grow and knowing that the food on my plate came from my garden.

5. A secret talent few know about… I have my motorcycle licence!

6. If you could offer one piece of advice to young people in their twenties, it would be… consider consequences and make sure to think before you act.

7. The funniest or most unbelievable thing I have had happen to me in my career at the Bell was... the day my colleague told me in the afternoon that my top was on inside out. Guess everyone just thought I was “in” because my label and seams were out.

8. My favourite place in the Bell ... the sunny side on third floor.

9. What do you think is the biggest challenge facing academic libraries today?  The biggest challenge is probably keeping up with technological change and providing access to quality online material, and space management.

10. Best known among my colleagues for... parking perfectly perpendicular to the building, tucked in behind the tree on the hill in a way that has been described as physically impossible; shifting books, and space studies in the library.
