Book a Seat

If you would like to study in the Library, you must book a specific seat or room. You can book in advance, or visit the Library and book on the spot.

The Libraries have bookable spaces on the Main, Ground, and Basement floors of the R.P. Bell and in the Music Library.

All our bookable spaces are numbered by their floor and type. We have seats at tables; study rooms; and seats with computers.

You can book seats up to 1 week in advance.

On the day of your seat or room booking

• Please wear a mask. Face masks are required while moving around within the Library. We encourage people to wear masks when sitting in public spaces, as well.
   
• A staff person at our check-in table will confirm your booking and direct you to your space. Bookings are required to enter the building beyond our book pick-up area.
   
• Book-a-seat appointments not attended within 30 minutes of the expected arrival time will be cancelled by the system.
   
• If you need to change your expected arrival time but do not want to cancel your appointment, please contact us at circ@mta.ca
   
• The Library has one-way directional signage on floors and doors. Please follow directional signage to your reserved space.
   
• Facilities Management staff will be cleaning high-touch spaces throughout the day; however, we encourage you to wipe high-touch surfaces at your study space when you arrive and leave. Sanitizing wipes are available on all floors.
   
• If you need library materials during your visit, you can order them online or visit our Access Services desk. The book stacks are closed to browsing, but staff and librarians are happy to get you the materials you need. You can use our web form or contact us by e-mail (circ@mta.ca) or phone (506-364-2568).
