The Mount Allison University departments of English and Modern Languages & Literatures present Disharmonies – an evening of poetry and discussion hosted in the R. P. Bell Library. Dr. Geordie Miller and Marilyn Lerch will read from their revolutionary collaborative poem, followed by a discussion between the poets and the publisher, Keagan Hawthorne of Hardscrabble Press.
From the book:
Marilyn Lerch and Geordie Miller's Disharmonies is a poetic conversation between two poets. Angry, honest, comradely, despairing – their lines both belong to and look beyond a world organized to generate profit rather than satisfy human needs. Written in the throes of the pandemic, the sequence ultimately expresses their shared hope that "the very simplest words / Must be enough." This book speaks from the conviction that if poetry could save the world, we'd be a lot closer to where we need to be.
Wednesday, December 7th, 7:00pm – 8:00pm
On the main floor of the R.P. Bell Library.
