Meet Elizabeth Millar
1. Official Title: Public Services, Rare Books, and Special Collections Librarian. (Elizabeth is also the subject librarian for Canadian Studies, History, Politics & International Relations, and Women's & Gender Studies.)
2. At the Bell since. . . 2004.
3. Where you’re most likely to find me off-duty: During term: in the library or at home checking my MTA email account. In summer: doing yard work, with the aspiration of one day calling it “gardening.”
4. Favourite board game: Crokinole.
5. Favourite area of study: History.
6. Favourite book: I have to choose??!!
7. Favourite Special Collection: It’s hard to pick just one, but the Mary Mellish Archibald Memorial Library has an international and multicultural selection of legends, nursery rhymes, fairy tales, ghost stories, folk music, traditional customs, and children’s songs, stories and games. Best of all, most of them can be taken home!
8. If you could offer one piece of advice to young people in their twenties, it would be… Good money-management skills will get you further in life than knowing how to format a journal article in APA style. But you should know that, too.
9. People are always surprised when they learn … There’s a master’s degree in Library and Information Studies (a PhD, too).
10. Current Goal: To have a pile-free desk.
