E-mail scam targets Library users

by Laura Landon on 2017-02-14T15:14:30-04:00 | 0 Comments

A new phishing scam is circulating using a fake Library link to trick people into disclosing their personal information. If you receive any e-mails asking you to click a link to renew your account information, delete it. If you have any questions about any messages you receive about library issues, please contact us.

MASU circulated a copy of the fraudulent text to warn people:

A similar e-mail was circulated in June, 2016. CSD warned people to delete the e-mail immediately, and issued the following statement:

"The only time you will be asked for account information is when you initiate contact with the Helpdesk. Helpdesk staff may ask you for some specific information to verify/confirm who you are before resetting your password or making any other account changes."
