Printing Help Guide

Printing on campus is a two step process:
  1. Submit the print job(s) to the printer queue
  2. Release the job for printing

 

Submit online to https://studentprint.mta.ca if using laptops and wireless devices or print using the library computers 

Submitting Print Jobs from Laptops and Devices

Note: studentprint only offers double sided printing 

  1. Go to https://studentprint.mta.ca
  2. Log in with your MtA information (same as Connect@MtA and your email)
  3. Click Submit a Job >>
  4. Select a printer: 
    • For black and white - studentprint\BlackAndWhite_WP (virtual) 
    • For colour - studentprint\Colour (virtual)
  5. Edit number of copies if needed, then click Upload Documents >>
  6. Drag and drop or upload file(s). Files will display on page
  7. Click Upload and Complete
    • Details of the print job including status, number of pages, and cost will display
  8.  Release your print job  

Printing from Library Computers

If logged in to computers in the library, you can print directly to the black and white or colour multifunction printer or upload to https://studentprint.mta.ca

  • Choose studentprint\BlackAndWhite for black and white jobs, studentprint\Colour for colour
  • Default setting is for double-sided printing, alter if needed
  • Release your print job 

Release your Print Job:

  1. Ensure you have sufficient Mountie Money on your MTA ID card
  2. Tap your MTA ID card on the card reader for the required multifunction printer (you must tap the colour printer for colour jobs)
  3. Click Release, then Select your print job(s) and click Print
    • Funds are debited after jobs are released for printing
  4. Click the Access button to log out when printing is complete

Don't need to print a job that was uploaded? It will delete after ~24hours. To immediately delete: log in to https://studentprint.mta.ca , select Jobs Pending Release, and Cancel the job 

Printing Single Sided

Print from the Library Computers or email document to  circ@mta.ca and see Access Services staff  

Scanning Help Guide

  1. Tap your MtA ID card on the card reader on any multifunction printer - ok the user confirmation summary screen
  2. Click Scan/Fax, select 'Me' as the recipient (job will be emailed to your MtA email)
    • To add another recipient, click Direct Input, then Email, and enter address
  3. Change settings as desired (eg. single sided to double, scanning size, quality)
  4. Scan page(s) then click Finish then hit the Start button 
  5. Click the Access button to log out when Scanning is complete

Photocopying Help Guide

  1. Ensure you have sufficient Mountie Money on your MtA ID card
  2. Tap your MtA ID card on the card reader for the required multifunction printer (you must tap the colour printer for colour jobs), then ok the user confirmation summary screen
  3. Click Copy
  4. Use the tray feeder for loose pages or the flatbed (position at the top left arrow and align the document with the guidelines)
  5. Change settings as desired (eg. single sided to double, scanning size, quality, number of copies)
  6. Scan page(s) then click Finish and then hit the Start button 
    • Funds are debited after jobs are released for printing
  7. Click the Access button to log out when printing is complete

Note: Copies from the Bell Collection of Acadiana and Rare Books must be requested through Access Services

Microfilm Scanning Quick Guide

  1. Start PC and log in
  2. Turn on Microfilm reader (on/off switch is located at back of machine)
  3. Launch PowerScan (icon on desktop) 
  4. Choose the format to scan using the picture icons
  5. Load film:
    • Microfilm - roll of film on a reel
      • Pull glass tray out
      • Load reel clockwise on left spindle, wrap film through left guide, under glass tray, through right guide, then secure end into the empty take-up reel 
      • Slide glass tray back
    • Microfiche - flat sheet of film
      • Pull out glass tray
      • Place fiche under glass tray and slide tray back
      • Move the glass around the find the images to scan
  6. Use Scanner icons for fast scroll, keyboard cursor control keys ( > < )  for slow scroll
  7. Use Icons to change orientation, brightness, contrast, zoom, focus, etc. as needed
  8. To capture an area for scanning, choose the File tab, click and drag to select the area, then select Scan to File
    • Scans will default saving to the desktop - transfer to network drive, removable devices, or email files
