What is it - Service to get items held by any Novanet library delivered to the library of your choice - Library service that facilitates the loans and copies from other libraries

- Free 'CAAL' card you can use to get library borrowing privileges at participating Canadian Universities  

Use when

- Any Novanet Library has the item and you are seeking the loan

- Neither MtA nor Novanet Libraries have the item available 

- You want to borrow items in person at participating university libraries 
How do I find resources - Use Novanet, a catalogue that has resources from all Novanet libraries - Anywhere you are doing research, eg: databases, CRL, Google Scholar, references from another resource, etc. 

- Search their catalogues directly 

How do I place my request

- Use 'Request' link in 'Get It' section of the item record in Novanet

- Can also place the request via ILL

- Use the ‘How to get it’ link in the Services section of the item record in Novanet, then ‘Request document via’ link in Novanet 

- Use the 'Find @ Mta' >‘Request document via’ link when searching databases

- Use the ILL request form to enter  your citation manually

- Not applicable, however hold/retrieval options may be available depending on the institution
For copy requests: - Include citation details (eg. year, volume, issue, part, pages, title, author) in the 'note' fields   - Request form has fields for citation details (eg. year, volume, issue, part, pages, title, author) and a space to add notes - Not applicable 
How long does it take

- Loans: ~ 3-5 days

- Copies: ~ 2-4 days +

- Loans: ~ 1-2 weeks + 

- Copies: ~ 2-4 days +

- Loans ~ immediately (when in person and the item is available for circulation)

- Copies ~ immediately when in person with your device or if copiers/scanners are available

How will I be notified

- Email with subject: Hold Request Letter                 

- Email with subject starting: ILL# PMT-xxxxxxxx       

- Email with subject: Hold Request Letter  IF we could find Novanet copy

- Not applicable (however some libraries may offer email loan notifications and reminders) 
Where do I pickup - RP Bell Library Access Services desk; item to be checked out on your library account - RP Bell Library Access Services desk, entrance; item to be checked out on your ILL account - Not applicable
How long can I keep loans - Loan periods are the same as MtA general collection loans  - Loan period is set by the supplying library, typically  - Depends on the library's policies
How do I renew - Renewals can be done in your library account or by contacting Access staff - Contact ILL to request the renewal 1 or 2 business days before the due date noted on the book band / library account - Depends on the library's policies
How/where do I return
